Wedding planning is supposed to be fun. I know, I probably sound absolutely crazy to you, but it is! You are planning a party! You are planning a day that you are going to be united with the person you love most in this world, surrounded by your family and friends, and then eat, drink, and dance into the night. How could this not be fun?
Well, unfortunately, there are people in your life that love to be up close and in every aspect of your planning, making sure that their opinion is stated and heard. Grandpa, Uncle Bill, Neighbor Sue, and the random lady at the coffee shop all (somehow) have an opinion about your special day. But it’s YOUR special day! It’s about you and your significant other. So let’s keep it that way.
Here are some tips to maintain the fun in wedding planning:
1. Choose your wedding party wisely
These few girls (or guys) are handpicked by you. This is a pretty big decision. These people are going to stand by your side on your wedding day and support you getting married. And they are going to be by your side throughout your entire engagement. You need to surround yourself with positive people who are going to know how to keep you smiling in the midst of the chaos (and they should definitely not cause the chaos)!
2. Sweat it out!
Working out is essential. I can tell what you are thinking right now: “this lady must be crazy. I don’t have time to workout! I have to pick out flatware, and whether I want seeded eucalyptus or baby’s breath!” And I am still saying WORKOUT! Take some time for yourself! Step away from the wedding binder with your hands up. I’m forcing you to. Believe me. Getting your body moving and sweating causes your body to produce endorphins, and endorphins make you happy (thank you, Elle Woods)!
3. Work With Vendors You Love (and Trust!)
When browsing for different vendors, find people that you like. Working with vendors who don’t listen to you, don’t allow for you to get creative, or aren’t easy to work with will frustrate you. These vendors are supposed to be on your side making sure that your vision comes alive for your wedding day. When you have vendors behind you that you can trust, you will breathe easier.
Just remember through all of this that all of this is to marry your best friend. If at the end of the day you are married, then it was a successful day.
Take a breath and enjoy to journey.
