Happy December! I hope your Thanksgivings were splendid and filled with family and love. It’s such an awesome time to reminisce about the past year and remember what all you are truly thankful for. That being said…us gals at The Terrace Club are so thankful for all of our preferred vendors. We have an incredible team behind us that make us look great. Truthfully, we wouldn’t be where we are without the help of our vendors who support us and work alongside us year in and year out.
So today, we’d like to showcase one our longest running and favorite photographers: Matt Montalvo.
We first met Matt back in 2007 when he started his photography business. He immediately caught our attention with his passion for his clients and his craft for photography. Matt believes in being up close and personal with his clients. He answers all emails, takes all pictures, edits all pictures and designs all albums! Matt runs his business 100% on his own, which allows him to get to know each and every couple really well.
Now, after getting to work beside him for the past 8 years, he’s become part of the TC family. We truly trust him in every facet of the wedding day. We never have to worry that he’s going to miss a shot. Believe us, he’s on top of it all!
Fun little fact about Matt: him and his wife (who is also a wedding photographer) got married at The Terrace Club in 2010!
Get to know Matt a little bit better:
How did your company get started?
I second shot a wedding as a favor to a friend (at The Terrace Club) and decided to give it a shot on my own and never looked back.
Why do you like photography?
I love how a good photo can freeze a memory or a feeling for the subject to relive over and over again.
Why weddings specifically?
I love meeting new people and serving them. The appreciation I receive from my clients makes all the hard work and time involved a joy.
What makes your company different from other photography companies?
I like to think my customer service goes beyond what is expected in the industry. I feel sometimes I want to get my client’s perfect photos more than the couple wants them. I want to exceed their expectation at every turn so they can cherish their photos for a lifetime.
If you could give a bride and groom advice about planning a wedding and picking a photographer, what would you say?
Make sure you have the rights to the photos and make sure the files you receive are unwatermarked, full edited, and high res. Try to view an entire wedding that your photographer has shot at the venue you are getting married at before making a decision. It is easy to have a nice portfolio, but consistency through out an entire wedding day is what you want to see. Every cenue has its own unique challenges and opportunities so you want to how the photogrpher handles them.
What’s the best memory you have with your company?
At a wedding a few years back a father had cancer and was very weak during the father daughter dance and everyone knew he didn’t have long. I got some amazingly tender and sweet father daughter dance shots through some of my own tears. I got emotional during the dance but captured some of my favorite shots. He passed away a few months after the wedding. A few months after he passed the bride wrote me a really sweet thank you for capturing those shots she will always hold dear. Pretty powerful stuff.
